Colour schemes: light, dark, system and hybrid

Neutrino has four colour modes, chosen once for the whole site. Light and dark are what they sound like. System follows whatever the reader's own device is set to, so a visitor with their phone in dark mode gets a dark site without ever being asked. Hybrid is the distinctive one: the page opens dark behind the hero image and transitions to light as the reader scrolls down into the article — a magazine treatment that gives the cover image dramatic weight without making the article body a dark read.

The mode is not just a background swap. Text colours, dividers, form fields, button treatments, the header's own contrast against whatever is behind it, and even the browser's address-bar colour on mobile all move together. The header in particular measures what is underneath it and flips its text between black and white so it stays legible over a pale hero and a dark one alike.

You can also override the site-wide mode on an individual post or page, which is useful when one piece of content wants a different atmosphere from the rest of the site.
