What Neutrino needs from your Ghost install, your host and your readers' browsers — and how to check all of it before you buy.

Neutrino requires Ghost 6.0 or newer, on Ghost(Pro) and on self-hosted Ghost alike. It is a standard Ghost theme: Handlebars templates plus pre-compiled CSS and JavaScript. Nothing is installed on your server, no build step runs on your machine, and no external service is required for the theme to work.

It is built and tested against the current Ghost 6.x line, which is what every site we run uses. Ghost 5 is not supported: the theme may well install and mostly work there, but we do not test it and will not fix what breaks. Ghost's own upgrade path from 5 to 6 is well trodden, and upgrading first is the right move.

Your readers need a current browser. Neutrino uses modern CSS layout features that have been standard across Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge since 2022–2023, and it does not ship fallbacks for browsers older than that. In practice this affects a fraction of a percent of traffic on most sites, but it is worth knowing rather than discovering.
