A fix for members-only and paid posts, which were losing the excerpt you wrote for them everywhere they appeared in a list — while still showing it on the post's own page.
Bug fixes
- A members-only or paid post lost its excerpt everywhere it appeared in a list. If you set a post to Members only or Paid-members only, wrote an excerpt for it, and did not put a "Public preview" divider in the body, the excerpt disappeared from your home page, your tag pages and your author pages — while still showing correctly on the post's own page. Nothing looked wrong in the editor, and nothing looked wrong to you while you were signed in, because being signed in to your own site makes you a member: only a signed-out visitor saw the gap. It hit exactly the posts where a teaser matters most. Excerpts now appear on every list page for every post that has one.
Under-the-hood improvements
- Posts with a public preview divider, and public posts, are untouched — every list page on a 120-post test site was compared before and after, and only the affected posts changed.
- Ghost limits an excerpt to 300 characters. A card now copes with the full 300 at every screen size, with no change to the height of cards that have a feature image.
