Second-level menus in the main navigation. A navigation item can now carry a set of links beneath it, opening as a menu on desktop and as an accordion inside the mobile menu.

New features

  • Second-level menus in the main navigation. A navigation item can now carry a set of links beneath it, opening as a menu on desktop and as an accordion inside the mobile menu. Same approach as the footer site map added in the previous release. See Navigation.

Bug fixes

  • Menus on a dark or hybrid site took their colour from the cover image behind the header instead of from the page, so a dark site could open a white menu — or a near-invisible one.

  • Tapping a menu chevron did nothing, because pressing it opened and then immediately closed the menu.

  • Menus near the right edge could run off the screen.

  • Rotating a phone collapsed an open menu.

  • On tablets showing the full navigation, only the small chevron responded to taps. The whole row now works.

  • Opening one section in the mobile menu closed the others.

  • A navigation item set as a plain heading rendered at the wrong size and weight, and could collapse against its neighbour.

Under-the-hood improvements

  • Header navigation spacing is now symmetrical — the first and last items no longer carry special-case padding.
